read sector 0 from drive

When I try to restore from IMGPTN in Easy2Boot such an error occurs

When I try from Easy2Boot to enter ImGPTN, then I have such a window

If I specify the way it was, that is, the NTFS file system, the disk is mounted, but does not open and asks to format

The usual problem is that your Windows AntiVirus is blocking access to Sector 0 (MBR).

E.g. Acronis Cloud Protect?

I tried to disable protection. There is no effect.

By the way, I specify manually type of file system, then the disk appears, but does not open

Antivirus - ESET Smart Security 8 x64

You seem to have a lot of images on the USB drive.

So have you been using E2B and .imgPTN images happily before?

If so, why are you suddenly having problems now?

Can you explain the history please?

Why does the form look so strange? Colours? No drive listed at top? etc.?

  1. Yes many.
  2. Yes, I have been useful for many years and very rarely with zero by reworking the disk with Easy2Boot. And always worked fine. Except that even with a sufficient free place WinContig did defragmentation, but when loading it still said that it is needed.
  3. I did CHKNTFS disc check, made partition alignment and defragmentation by the O&O Disk Defrag program. After that, I did not use Easy2Boot and therefore I can not say, after which there was a problem.

Yes, this is a theme for Windows, I like it, but there are shortcomings in it, as in the screenshot, but I am very lary with them.

Maybe try windows chkdisk /f to fix it?

I also wanted to ask why when creating IMGPTN, when I choose Syslinux by default, then such a warning arises? This is fine?

When you choose '4' it will use files from the folder .\syslinux\syslinux_4  like this:

Which version of Syslinux shall I install (37,38,4,5,6,603,604,N=None) : 4
SYSLINUX=4

INSTALLING SYSLINUX TO U:\SYSLINUX (using .\syslinux\syslinux_4)...

Updating vesamenu.c32, chain.c32 and menu.c32 in U:\SYSLINUX (using .\syslinux\syslinux_4)
Updated U:\SYSLINUX\vesamenu.c32
Updated U:\SYSLINUX\menu.c32
Updated U:\SYSLINUX\chain.c32

TITLE WILL BE gparted-live-1.0.0-5-amd64

So it maybe means your MakePartImage folder is bad?

Try re-downloading and installing MakePartImage.

When you choose '4' it will use files from the folder .\syslinux\syslinux_4

Folder and files are present

I also tried to re-download and create an imgptn, anyway there is a warning.

OK, error just means it cannot find any syslinux or isolinux folder inside the ISO

i.e. it does not seem to contain syslinux/isolinux in the standard folders.

:: can't find syslinux\isolinux folder
echo WARNING: Cannot find suitable folder for syslinux & pause & goto :skpsysL

OK, error just means it cannot find an syslinux or isolinux folder inside the ISO

as I said, it found a syslinux.cfg file buried deep inside the ISO.

You can just ignore the warning  (it is a WARNING  - not an error!)

Ok.

And by error, can you advise anything else?

Well, I don't have enough information.

Does the SWITCH_E2B.exe  READ LBA0 error occur on any E2B USB drive or just one particular one?

Does the error occur if you use a different Windows system?

Do you get any issues when booting to E2B and switching in or out a .imgPTN file?

Do all .imgPTN files show the same error or just one particular one?

If you use RMPrepUSB - can you do a Drive Info - 0  read of the USB MBR sector LBA 0? If you get a problem using RMPrepUSB then either Windows is blocking access or the USB drive is faulty .

If it can switch in images and out again when booted to E2B menu - it points to a Windows/AV issue.

Maybe you can boot to WinPE (Strelec ISO) and run SWITCH_E2B from WinPE if you dont have another Windows system?

etc. etc.

Only on it

Does the error occur if you use a different Windows system?

I tried on another PC with Win10.

There are no errors, but the image ... Strelec ... everything does not open, when explicitly specify the file system

Do you get any issues when booting to E2B and switching in or out a .imgPTN file?

No, when downloading to E2B and back, no errors, except the image ... Strelec ...

Do all .imgPTN files show the same error or just one particular one?

All.

RMPrepUSB - can you do a Drive Info - 0  read of the USB MBR sector LBA 0? If you get a problem using RMPrepUSB then either Windows is blocking access or the USB drive is faulty .

When RMPREP starts, I have a window

That's what happens when reading 0 sector

Yes, it switches normally, but it gives an error "read sector 0".

Well, I have a problem, but I do not understand because of what, it is probably connected:

I installed Win7 via WinNTSetup. And this installer, I pointed out to record boot files into the same disk, where Windows.

In the same way I installed Win11.

And I get an active partition with Win7, and Win11 can load Grub2 (Win7 too) without having to do the section active.

And the problem is that if I go to the properties of the system, there is no OS selection.

I tried to create a Strelec image on another flash drive, everything is normal there.

Although I probably will remake disk with E2B, I think it will be so faster.
